Businesses are invited to attend a virtual office hours with the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) to understand how to obtain a Sidewalk Café permit to operate outdoor dining on the sidewalk. Staff will be available to answer questions about design requirements and the permit process for sidewalk cafes.
Temporary Sidewalk Table Service permits are planned to expire on May 31, 2023. Existing permittees will need to obtain a sidewalk café permit prior to June 1st to keep operating outdoor dining on the sidewalk in public space. Enforcement is set to begin in June to ensure that all food establishments are compliant with public space regulations.
