On Friday, May 31st at 5:30 pm, everyone is invited to Live on the Hill's celebration of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month is observed in the United States during the month of May, and recognizes the contributions and influence of Asian Americans and Pacific Islander Americans to the history, culture, and achievements of the United States. We will be hosting the Taiko Drummers of Japan.
Taiko (太鼓) are a broad range of Japanese percussion instruments. In Japanese, the term taiko refers to any kind of drum, but outside Japan, it is used specifically to refer to any of the various Japanese drums called wadaiko (和太鼓, lit.
