Live on the Hill - Mad Science in the Park
Hosted By Barracks Row Main Street
In Partnership with Barracks Row Main Street, the Department of Parks and Recreation & the Office of Councilmember Charles Allen
Mad Science Camps offer hands-on discovery and exploration of scientific principles. Your child will be able to touch, see, hear, and smell what science is really all about! Campers create a variety of take-home projects while exploring how science affects the world around us.
Time & Location:
Saturday, July 6th, 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM: Things That Go Boom - This show is themed all around learning about chemical reactions. Learn the four signs of a chemical reaction through foaming and color-changing experiments, balloon inflation, and, of course, some explosions! Conclude with our Mad Science Bubbling potions, where the kids will get to learn about dry ice and see the creation of real clouds!
Saturday, July 13th, 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM: Spectacular Science: Fire & Ice - This spectacular show thrills audiences with impressive science experiments. The event includes foggy dry ice clouds and the chemistry of fire! Learn all about the science of magic, including a disappearing water trick and fun with air pressure. This is one of our most popular shows, covering a wide variety of science topics, and excellent for audiences of any age range.
Saturday, July 20th, 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM: Marvels of Motion - In this high energy event, children see Newton’s three laws of motion in action. They try exciting experiments, compete in crazy competitions, and learn the physics behind some of their favorite sports. This show is best for audiences in 3rd-6th grade and for those learning all about motion and physics
Saturday, July 27th, 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM: Spin, Pop, Boom - The audience is amazed when the Mad Scientist defies gravity in this energetic and spectacular special event. The children are enthralled by the exotic sounds of the didgeridoo tubes. An explosion of foam ends this event and leaves the audience wanting more!
