Barracks Row Main Street provides services and assistance to current and potential business owners in our service area.
Barracks Row Main Street works to leverage public and private funds to improve the condition of the historic buildings in the area. Currently, only commercial buildings south of G Street, SE are eligible for public funding.
Barracks Row Main Street hosts events to bring customers to Eighth Street almost every month. In January/ February/ March it's WinterCity Weekends: jazz musicians, trapeze artists and magicians put on indoor shows during the coldest weekends of the year. In April Taste of 8th, our annual restaurant sampling event, attracts thousands of visitors who want to discover whats new at our restaurants. The Fourth of July Parade, brings the best in small time charm to 8th Street. The Dog Days of August event is a our end of summer sale. Barracks Row Fall Festival on Capitol Hill attracts 7000-9000 visitors in early fall to an only-in-DC street fair, complete with Military Chef's Cooking Contest. In December Santa arrives by fire truck to hear the wish lists of neighborhood kids at his booth on 8th and G St. Business owners are encouraged to participate in all events.
Barracks Row Main Street offers technical assistance for marketing and social media, questions about renovations and permits, tenant recruitment and other requested services for our business owners.
