Economic Development Committee
Mission:
The Economic
Revitalization Committee works to develop and implement an economic strategy to
distinguish Barracks Row Main Street as a successful commercial corridor, to
provide sustainable business opportunities for the merchants, and to create job
opportunities, especially for local residents.

Activities & Achievements to Date:
- Created a partnership with University of
Maryland Graduate School of Business and worked with the Masters Class for
Community Public Relations to create a complete public relations plan for Barracks Row Main Street
- Hired Bolan Smart Associates to revise
the retail market analysis with a focus on current status and future
potential of the Barrack Row
Main Street
- Developing a revised retail marketing
brochure summarizing the report findings
- Completed an in depth, detailed, study
of the commercial spaces on Barrack Row including complete owner and
business operator lists and floor plans for major buildings
- Created a database of all properties and
contact information for each owner and business operator resulting in Barracks
Row Main Street Office becoming a clearinghouse for commercial activity on
Barracks Row.
- Established regular communications
program for the businesses and owners
- Created below market financing programs
for facade improvements and business expansion on Barracks Row
- Established relationships with important
commercial real estate brokers resulting in DC Builders Industry
Association Retail Tour and GWCAR RealTour focus on Barracks Row
- Recruited 43 net new businesses to
Barracks Row and acted as a catalyst for several existing business
expansions
