Promotion Committee

Mission:

The Promotion Committee markets Barracks Row to customers, investors, new businesses, residents, and visitors by developing and carrying out image campaigns, retail promotions, and special events.

Activities & Achievements:

• Second Saturday – Shop, Eat and Drink ‘till late on Barracks Row on the Second Saturday of each month.
• Capitol Hill’s Oktoberfest on Barracks Row 2007 – A street fair, a chef’s competition and Oktoberfest all in one!
• Barracks Row Dine Around – Taste of Barracks Row
• Clean Sweep – a neighborhood clean-up event
• Easter Egg Hunt in the Virginia Avenue Park
• Barracks Row Fest – a street fair on 8th Street
• Sidewalk Sales – tax-free shopping in the City
• Trick or Treat on historic Barracks Row
• Thursday Night Classes: acting, framing, cooking, bike repair, etc.
• Fete de la Musique – a music festival in partnership with DC Commission on the Arts

Barracks Row Main Street is organizing its sixth-annual street festival in the 500-700 blocks of 8th Street, SE from 11:00 - 5:00 p.m. The event will showcase a Military Cook-off Competition, live music, silent auction, vendors, and beer garden!
