Jobs & Community Building Subcommittee

The mission of the Jobs & Community Building Subcommittee is to create new jobs on 8^th Street and place local “back to work” residents in jobs available on 8^th Street.

The Jobs & Community Building Subcommittee has:

· Helped create 198 new jobs through 43 net new businesses opening on 8^th Street in the last seven years

· Placed 17 welfare-to-work individuals jobs on 8^th Street, SE

· Asked local businesses to commit to hiring local “back to work” people

· Provided mock interviews for students trying to re-enter the job market through job-training organizations, such as Strive DC

· Acted as the liaison between those businesses with jobs and those seeking employment
