Our annual weekend of cooking classes is back: Barracks Row Culinary Education Crawl 2015 - November 14, 15 and 16

Sign up for classes here.

Who: Chefs and restaurant owners on Capitol Hill

What: 2015 Culinary Education Crawl on Capitol Hill; twenty five cooking classes will take place at Capitol Hill restaurants!

When: For three days, November 14, 15 and 16 the neighborhood becomes a cooking school campus. Build a schedule just like you did in college and sign up for classes here.

Where: The central campus is on Barracks Row. This year there is also a North Campus near Eastern Market and a South Campus at the Capitol Riverfront.  Classes are easy to get to by foot, bike, Metro (Eastern Market or Navy Yard Metro) or car. If you drive, use Lot L for Capitol Riverfront restaurants. On Barracks Row there is a metered DC parking lot under Interstate 695 at 8th Street. If you are headed to Eastern Market area classes, Colonial Parking is at 600 Pennsylvania Ave, SE.

Why: With the holidays ahead there will be sit down dinners, pot-luck socials and snacks in front of the TV during ballgames. Learn new, chef-taught recipes – whether you are staying in town as host or traveling back home as a guest. You’ll also discover the backstory behind the restaurants of Capital Hill. With chefs and cuisines from all over the world, holiday visitors will be fascinated with an area restaurant tour!

Barracks Row Main Street proposes new public art project for the Eastern Market Metro Plaza

Print PDF

Barracks Row Main Street (BRMS) is proud to present a new proposed public art project for the Eastern Market Metro Plaza! Inspired by the famous IAmsterdam sculpture in the Netherlands, the new 3-D "Toronto" sculpture installed this summer for the Pan Am Games, and Robert Indiana’s LOVE sculpture in Philadelphia, BRMS has been working for the past several months with District-based artist Charles Bergen of Charles Bergen Studios to create word-art pieces to be displayed on the Eastern Market Metro Plaza, sharing the same parcel as the Metro entrance. BRMS has applied for funding from the DC Commission on Arts and Humanities to help cover the cost of this project, and is soliciting feedback from the local community on the proposed designs shown below.
