Volunteer with the Fall Festival

Volunteer with the Barracks Row Fall Festival!

Barracks Row Main Street can't put on this event without the help of the community! Tackle a bigger role and build your resume or show your civic pride with a smaller project beforehand or a shift the day of the event.

We also have positions open for Zone Leaders on the day of the event, Sept. 27. If you can work all day from 9 am until 5 pm that is ideal; if not we will change Zone Leader shifts at 1:30.

Kid’s Zone: Working with the Kid’s Zone Director during the event to check in volunteers who work 2 hour shifts at various different Kid’s areas (face painting; crafts; petting zoo, etc.). Keeping the volunteer coverage balanced at each part of the Kid’s Zone as needs arise.

Stage Zone: stay at the stage with the stage tech/sound engineer to make sure the acts are checking in on time and are leaving on time. This zone leader works very closely with the Master of Ceremonies who is on stage during the event, announcing acts and keeping things going.

Chef’s Cook Off Zone: The Military Chef’s Alliance hosts Iron Chef style cook off during Fall Festival to determine the top chef in the US Military. 5 teams compete in 3 flights. The first flight begins at 7:00 am. Flight winners go to a lightening round at 2:30 and by 4:45 the judges choose the final winner. All sorts of issues can arise … this zone needs cool zone leaders who can roll with the different problems that pop up and solve them on the spot.

Positions are also open for Day of Event Volunteers - all zones /areas for 2 hour shifts from 8:00am -5:00pm

So come out and help Barracks Row Main Street with this wonderful event! Email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it for more information on becoming a volunteer. And bring a friend!

Photos From Garden Party '12

We have begun to receive photos from Garden Party 2012; in the next few days more photos will be posted. We tented the garden in anticipation of afternoon showers which never materialized; but as you can see, the tents created a magical effect that continued on into early evening.

Many thanks to the Garden Party Host Committee, lead by Cynthia Jones and to Tip and Connie Tipton who generously hosted the event at historic Deer House.

At the party our guests were able to Meet the Chefs - 5 restaurants on 8th Street sent their chefs to present their best new dishes. Senart's Oyster and Chop House served poached shrimp, oysters and cold watermelon soup; Spring Mill Bread served their winning brownies along with mini sandwiches and cakes; The Sweet Lobby, recent winner of the Food Network's Cup Cake Wars,  shared their newly invented dessert, MacTops - a macaron/cupcake combination as well as their signature eclairs and cookies; Nooshi Sushi, shown below served a variety of sushi and rolls, and Tash served grilled kebabs. Nooshi Sushi and Tash will be opening  late summer, 2012.
